College Papers on FrackingIt seems like there are a ton of college papers out there that focus on fracking and its effects on the environment. As it turns out, the most informative college papers have been targeted by the industry and have lost the majority of their content and many of their articles as well.Before I talk about how important college papers are when it comes to fighting the new frackers, I want to quickly talk about the current scenario of journalism. Most people read newspapers that are pro-industry, they don't really care much about their content or anything in the story, and they rarely bother to check if the information is accurate. It's the same with college papers and what's going on with them now, most of the things in these papers are inaccurate and they are doing nothing to combat the new industry.The majority of these papers are funded by the power companies and they are giving too much credence to these things that are not true, such as; 'there is no fossil fuel left'the carbon footprint is too high and cannot be done away with', etc. It is clear that not only are the new frackers advertising to convince people that we can get rid of our carbon footprint by using tracking techniques, but they are also using their college papers to back up these claims. Yes, it is true that you will save money, but at what cost?Let's take a look at one of the more popular newspapers that focuses on fracking and its effect on the environment. The Wall Street Journal. In their 'Environment' section, they have an article entitled 'Oil Drilling has Environmental Benefits.' How does this article help you in your struggle to fight against fracking?They say the oil drilling alone is good because it creates jobs, but then they go on to talk about the number of animals that were killed because of oil wells, which seems like a huge exaggeration and is not mentioned anywhere in the entire article. This is one of the main things that make people think that the peo ple writing these papers don't really care about their readers don't really care about these papers. It's sad but true.This brings me to my next interesting thing. Let's take a look at the list of all the papers on this topic. There are some that are trying to promote the article and trying to bring awareness to the environmental problems in the world, but there are also some that are attacking this, trying to debunk everything. You can get a more accurate picture of how people view these types of papers, when you go to the bottom of each page, they have 'Environmental News' listed below 'Economics.'In fact, this whole issue about newspapers and their advertising campaigns against fracking, is only part of the story. The ads on campus and the 'greenwashing' are just the tip of the iceberg. Now, if you're not into politics, you probably won't care too much about these kind of things, but if you're willing to step back and take a closer look, it is a very interesting topic.And don't f orget that these fracking articles are available for anyone who is interested. We all know that professors can write articles, it is hard to believe that someone would try to get people to actually buy this type of product, but I guess that is just not very believable.
